The story of Romulus and Remus
A short summary about the two brothers
Romulus and Remus were twins who were born about 2500 years ago and named by Rhea Silvia, their mother. While they were born, their uncle did not want anybody to give birth to someone that might try to take over the throne, so he ordered to put the twins' mother to be put in prison.Meanwhile the boys, were supposed to be thrown into the river, but instead, they were placed in a basket and drifted away.
A she-wolf found the twins and cared for them. when they grew up, some shepards came across them. One shepherd took the twins and raised them as his own children. One day Remus got captured and was taken to the twins uncle, the king.To save Remus, Romulus gathered some shepherds to rescue is brother. At the end the king was killed and the citizens of the land eventually got to know the twins' identity and offered them the crown.
However, they turned down the crown because they wanted to build a new city [now Rome]. The twins came to the spot where current Rome is today. They both liked the area but each wanted to build Rome in a different hill. Romulus wanted Rome on Palatine hill while Remus wanted it to be on Aventine hill. They both decided to wait for the sign from the gods. Remus saw the sign of 6 vultures first, but Romulus saw twelve after him so, they were equal.
Romulus started to build a wall around Palatine hill. Remus was jealous and started to tease Romulus and jumped over his brother's wall to show how easy it was to get over it. Later Romulus got so angry that he eventually killed Remus. When Remus was dead, Romulus continued to build his city. When the city was finished, he officially founded Rome on April 21, 753 BC, and made himself king, and named it after himself (Rome).
Do you really think that this happened?
No because a wolf would normally kill you rather than care for you. But I think that most parts are real like the king or the mother etc.
